Police called to Kirkintilloch school following “suspicious telephone call”
PRIMARY pupils are being guarded by police for a second day after a “suspicious” call was made to a school.
Police were called to Gartconner Primary, in Kirkintilloch, on Monday morning and officers were maintaining a presence at the school today (Tuesday).
Council education chiefs were remaining tight-lipped about the exact nature of the threat.
Gordon Currie, the council’s head of education, said: “A suspicious telephone call was made to Gartconner Primary School in Kirkintilloch on Monday morning.
“The headteacher immediately contacted Strathclyde Police and followed their advice and guidance throughout the day.
“A letter has been issued to parents/carers to reassure them that the safety of our pupils is paramount, that we will continue to follow the advice of Strathclyde Police and that they will be kept updated as appropriate.
“On the advice of the police, the school has remained open following the incident.”
