Police pursuit ends with Bishopbriggs driver hitting wall

A DRIVER sparked a lengthy police chase before crashing into a garden wall.

The 36-year-old man sped away from police in Northgate Road, Balornock, at around 8.15pm on Saturday.

He then drove through Bishopbriggs, Auchinairn and on to Stepps. A police helicopter was also involved in the pursuit.

He is alleged to have been driving on the opposite side of the road and on the pavement at some points, narrowly missing pedestrians.

The driver, from Bishopbriggs, was caught after crashing into a garden wall in Cumbernauld Road in Stepps. Police charged the man with dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, having no insurance and failing to stop for officers.
