Two popular and dedicated parishioners at St Matthew’s Church in Bishopbriggs have been awarded one of the Catholic Church’s highest honours.

Peter Bradley (90) and Mary Daly (77) were each presented recently with the Benemerenti Medal by Monsignor Hugh Bradley, on behalf of Pope Francis.

Peter received the medal for his 14 years service as sacristan, which involved getting the church ready every day for mass, and Mary was rewarded for her 14 years as housekeeper at St Matthew’s.
