Poppy meadows are going to be planted across East Dunbartonshire as a tribute to the fallen soldiers of the First World War.

A variety of sites, including those already identified as wildflower meadows, will be transformed with beautiful poppies to commemorate the centenary of the Great War.

As well as paying tribute to those who lost their lives in the war they will also enhance biodiversity as the nectar rich meadows will become havens for the honey and bumble bees, which are in severe decline in the UK.
