Pupils are first class in Kirkintilloch, Lenzie and Bishopbriggs – and that’s a royal exclusive!
INSPIRATIONAL youths who excelled in a Prince’s Trust scheme have been honoured at a special awards ceremony.
S3 and S4 pupils from Kirkintilloch High, Lenzie Academy, Bishopbriggs Academy, Turnbull High, and Douglas Academy took part in the Prince’s Trust xl programme.
It’s designed to help young people overcome barriers to learning, develop skills and become fully engaged with their school and education. As part of the programme pupils at Lenzie Academy supported fellow pupils with literacy and numeracy difficulties during the exam period.
While Turnbull High School has been working on an Internet Safety project.
East Dunbartonshire Council ensured all xl clubs were given the opportunity to participate in a Fire Reach course as well as complete their First Aid certificate.
Pupils showcased their work at a ceremony in Cumbernauld College’s Southbank Campus in Kirkintilloch.
They were presented with certificates by Councillor Eric Gotts, convener of education.
Councillor Gotts said: “The progress we have seen the young people make has been remarkable, and the amount that each club has contributed to its local community through fundraising and running events is commendable.”
