Right royal party as Kirkintilloch marks Her Maj’s 60th celebration
AN entire street came out to party for The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Senga Beattie (67) and her neighbours in Langmuir Avenue, Kirkintilloch, decked out their street in bunting and Union flags for a special party to mark Her Majesty’s 60th year on the throne.
The diamond jubilee event was held 59 years after residents got
together in the same spot for a tea party to celebrate the Queen’s
coronation in 1953.
Senga, who organised the event, said: “It was a big success.
“We had the coronation party here when I was just eight years old.
“It was important to me to hold this, because six of us who were there back in 1953 still live in the street.
“The party was about getting to know everybody, and it went really well.”
