NEW homes being built on Rob Roy FC’s car park at Adamslie, in Kirkintilloch, have been bought for council housing.
Turnberry Homes are planning to create 28 homes on the car park site – and a quartet have been flogged to the council.
Kenny Simpson, East Dunbartonshire Council’s head of housing and community services, said: “The council has agreed to purchase four houses for social rent from Turnberry Homes, subject to an affordable price being agreed.
“This follows an approach from Turnberry Homes enquiring whether the council could take ownership of the affordable units.
“This situation is unique to this development, but would go towards meeting the shortage of affordable housing in East Dunbartonshire.”
Discussions are on-going between Rob Roy Football Club and Turnberry Homes over the sale of Adamslie Park.
The Kirkintilloch club has ambitious plans to build a new state-of-the-art stadium in the town.
