Rob Roy in bid for new stadium

KIRKINTILLOCH Rob Roy have submitted plans to move out of Adamslie Park and build a brand new stadium.

The junior side wants to take to the field on land between Birdston Road and Campsie Road, near Kirkintilloch Golf Club.

The stadium would include a full-size grass and full-size synthetic pitch, floodlights, changing and bar facilities, a one-storey building with a '490 capacity viewing stand', a covered stand for 1,000 fans and a car park.

A separate proposal would see 83 houses, including flats and bungalows, built at the existing ground on Glasgow Road.

The football club, currently top of the Central League First Division, has played at Adamslie since 1926.

Charlie O'Brien, Rob Roy's general secretary, said: "An application has gone to the council for planning permission for a new Rob Roy stadium. We intend to have a meeting about this with members on Thursday."
