School playground attacked ... again
TWISTED vandals have trashed a playground for the third time in months.
Neds ripped out the soft play surface at Balornock Primary and threw it into neighbouring gardens.
This is the third time the school, in Broomfield Road, has been targeted by yobs.
In May, Wellfield Nursery, which is based in the school grounds, had its garden damaged.
And just weeks ago new plants were ripped out.
Head teacher Phyllis Harley said: "It is so demoralising that this keeps happening. After the first incident, we paid for new plants and then they were ripped out as well.
"The nearby Balornock Allotments are also being targeted, but luckily our plots have not been damaged.
"Because the community policing programme has been changed, the school has not been getting the same number of visits so I will be writing to the chief inspector asking that this is reviewed."
Four youths were charged in connection with the vandalism in May.
Communities Inspector John McBride, based at Baird Street police office, said: "We have not as yet received any complaints from the school about policing, but a meeting has been arranged with the head teacher to discuss this."
The latest incident at the school took place over the weekend of June 19 to 21. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 0141 532 4101.
Residents living near the school are also urged to report any suspicious behaviour over the school holidays.
