BEATRICE CLUGSTON

GRAVE robbers have struck at Old Aisle Cemetery – desecrating the grave of one of Kirkintilloch’s most famous daughters.

The large bronze panel was stolen from a monument marking the grave of Beatrice Clugston in the town’s Old Aisle Cemetery between Wednesday, December 12, and Sunday, December 16.

The plaque, weighing around 55kg, portrayed the philanthropist and founder of Broomhill Hospital, who died in 1888, tending to the sick.

Any information about the theft can be passed to police on 0141 532 4400.
