Smashed on the back of the head in Bishopbriggs

YOUTH disorder in Bishopbriggs saw two youths attacked and several arrests over the weekend.

Two 15-year-olds were walking in Beech Road, near to Auchinairn Primary School, on Saturday at around 8.25pm when they were targeted.

The two suspects asked the boys where they were from before launching the attack.

One of the victims was struck on the back of the head with an object, while the other was hit on the side of the head.

One of the boys was taken to Stobhill Hospital where he received stitches.

The suspect who carried out the assaults is described as around 5ft 2ins to 5ft 11ins tall and was wearing a blue top with a white collar and shorts.

The other suspect was around 5ft 3ins to 5ft 10ins tall and was wearing a red top and dark jogging trousers.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about the the attack to contact them on 0141 532 4400.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, an 18-year-old man was arrested for being in possession of an offensive weapon at Littlehill Golf Club course in Bishopbriggs on Sunday at around 6.15pm.

Police were called to the scene after receiving reports of fighting.

Officers were called to several reports of youth disorder and gang fighting in the Bishopbriggs area on Saturday between 4.40pm and 11.40pm.

Reports included areas such as Woodfield Avenue, Auchinairn Road, Willow Avenue, Graham Terrace, O'Neill Avenue, Kincardine Drive and Lunan Drive.

A man was arrested for breach of the peace and police issued fixed penalty notices.

In some of the incidents, the suspects had fled before police arrived.
