Snow brings disruption to roads in East Dunbartonshire
THIS is the scene in Kirkintilloch as snow falls across much of Scotland.
East Dunbartonshire Council said it’s gritting teams have been out across the district since the early hours of the morning.
However, one worried resident in Old Aisle Road, Kirkintilloch, said a car got stuck in the street going to a funeral at Old Aisle Cemetery.
He said: “It was absolutely ridiculous, people were having to help push the car. It hasn’t been gritted. They knew the snow was coming.
“When I phoned the council, they said they would get a gritter out shortly. This is a very busy road.”
David Devine, head of roads and neighbourhood services, said: “We have had crews out gritting our primary roads and footpaths since 4am.
“Once that work is complete we will move onto our secondary routes, in line with our Winter Service Plan which sets out the priority roads and paths across East Dunbartonshire.
“Although some more snow is expected the forecast is that it will turn to rain in the afternoon as temperatures rise. We continue to monitor weather reports and respond accordingly.”
