Students set to benefit from budget
THE latest Scottish budget looks set to benefit students at North Glasgow College.
Nearly £40million extra has been allocated to students and colleges across the country.
Glasgow MSP Bob Doris and Alasdair Allan MSP, minister for skills and learning, recently visited Springburn-based North Glasgow College to talk to students about their concerns over funding.
Mr Doris explained: “This is a Government that is choosing to listen to the views of students and staff in Scotland’s colleges. It was clear when the minister came to visit Springburn he was thinking about how best to serve the needs of the college sector with limited resources available.
Maryhill and Springburn MSP Patricia Ferguson hailed the news a success for campaigning students, who were concerned over potential cuts.
She said: “College students in Maryhill and Springburn, and across Scotland, have campaigned against the SNP cuts to college budgets.”
