Swinson joins an Olympian and a Baroness in awards nominations

EAST Dunbartonshire MP Jo Swinson has been nominated for a prestigious award.

Ms Swinson is on the shortlist for the ‘MP of the Year’ category in the ‘Women in Public Life Awards’.

The gong will go to the most effective woman in the House of Commons who has shown outstanding achievement during the parliamentary year, either as a minister or backbencher.

Ms Swinson said: “There’s a fantastic list of role models, like Baroness Shirley Williams and Victoria Pendleton, who’ve won a Women in Public Life Award in the past.

“It’s a surprise and an honour to find myself nominated and I’m in good company with my fellow nominees.”
