Tasered by police in Bishopbriggs

A MAN allegedly brandishing a gun was Tasered by armed police and arrested.

The incident happened in the Woodhill Road area of Bishop-briggs with armed police, a police heli-copter and the dog branch in attendance.

A police spokesperson said: "Strathclyde Police can confirm that at around 5.40pm on Monday, August 23, police firearms officers discharged a Taser during an incident in Woodhill Road, Bishopbriggs.

"Police had been called following reports of a man who was allegedly in possession of a firearm.

"A 47-year-old man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment and is in police custody. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
