Tasty result for town centre

KIRKINTILLOCH Farmers' Market could be back up and running soon in a new location.

The market will now be located in the Regent Centre car park and will be able to go ahead once nearby building work is completed.

John Dobbie, a director of the Scottish Association of Farmers' Markets, said: "We are expecting a wave of enthusiasm for the market and hope to hold it on the third Wednesday of every month.

"We are targeting October for the first market and hope to encourage healthy eating and become involved in local festivals – although sadly we will be too late for the canal festival."

East Dunbartonshire MP Jo Swinson said: "This is great news. All credit to the Regent Centre for providing the new site."

Peter Clarke, manager of the Regent Centre, said: "We believe it will be a good thing for Kirkintilloch and when we were asked to host it we were more than happy to say yes."

Councillor Rhondda Geekie, chair of the Kirkintilloch Town Centre Steering Group, said she was "delighted".
