Taxi driver robbed during early morning incident
POLICE are hunting a thug who threatened a taxi driver before robbing him of a three-figure sum of cash.
The suspect was picked up in the Cardowan area on Sunday, January 27, at around 5am.
The man then threatened the driver with a sharp instrument and demanded cash
before making off.
The taxi driver was not injured.
The man is described as around 6ft tall with a local accent.
Police believe the incident could be linked to an attempted robbery on another taxi driver in the Cardowan area earlier that morning at around 3.30am.
The same method was used, but the crook fled empty handed on that occasion.
