A fantastic line-up of events for people of all ages and interests has been organised by the Rangers at Mugdock Country Park for the next few weeks.

You could enjoy some fresh air and improve your health on a Ranger led walk on Wednesday, July 2 at 11.20am along the Auld Aisle to Woodilee.

The route for this hour long walk goes through the cemetery and along the old railway line. It’s free and on mainly level, established paths with some steps. Minibus transport available from Lennoxtown at 11am or meet at the walk start at 11.20am. Booking essential, call 0141 956 6586.

Or you could search the skies for swifts in Kirkintilloch on Tuesday, July 8 from 7.30pm – 9pm.

Swifts are in trouble but you could do your part to help them out by learning how to identify and count them on this ‘big skies’ walk on the east side of Kirkintilloch. Meet the Ranger in St Mary’s Church grounds, Cowgate, Kirkintilloch and bring binoculars if you have them. Free event. Everyone welcome.

Children will have great fun searching for insects whilst the adults get their hands dirty managing the nearby grassland at a ‘Creepy Crawlies & Conservation’ event in Kirkintilloch on Thursday, July 10 from 2pm – 3.30pm.

Free event. Meet the Ranger at Merkland Local Nature Reserve car park, off Merkland Drive, Kirkintilloch.

And last but certainly not least you could join a hill walk – Tomtain and Meikle Bin - on Sunday, July 13 from 10am – 4pm.

Traverse the Kilsyth Hills and see the Kelvin and Carron Valleys stretch out before you, then climb Meikle Bin and head down to Carron Valley reservoir. A challenging Ranger led 13km hill walk. There is a £3 charge. Booking essential, call 0141 956 6586.
