The Canal Run takes place on Saturday, April 12.

Runners from around the country are preparing to get on their marks for Deafblind Scotland’s popular Canal Run.

The 10k race and 5k fun run, which take place on Saturday, April 12, from Bishopbriggs, are now regular fixtures in Scotland’s running calendar.

Flanking the Forth and Clyde Canal for most of the routes, the event offers runners unique scenery, a mainly flat course, and the choice of two distances.

Drena O’Malley, Deafblind Scotland initiatives officer, said: “This year’s Canal Run is set to be the biggest yet.

“The support for the event has grown over the years and we have used runners’ feedback to improve both the 10k race and 5k fun run.

“We would like to welcome any new and returning runners and would encourage anyone interested to view our website to find out more.”

The event starts and finishes near the Leisuredrome with registration for the 10k at 2pm closing at 1pm. The 5k fun run starts at 1.15pm with registration before 12.45pm.

Entry fee for the 10k is £10, or £8 if SAF registered, and £8 for the 5k fun run, or £6 if SAF registered.

Cash and spot prizes will be presented on the day.

Runners can pre-register before April 9 at www.deafblindscoland.org.uk in the ‘booking an event’ section.
