A POPULAR and well-known businessman, involved in countless successful ventures across the west of Scotland, has died.
Balvinder Singh – known as Billy Padda – died on Friday, July 6. He was 50.
Billy, who grew up in the West End of Glasgow, came to Bishopbriggs 20 years ago, before moving to Kirkintilloch five years later.
He quickly became renowned amongst the business community and residents alike for his friendly and happy manner and devotion to hard work
Some of his former businesses included the Indian Cottage in Kirkintilloch and the Shimla in Muirhead.
He was also an avid sports fan, regularly playing and watching football, badminton and golf.
Robert Wilson, vice-president of Dunbartonshire Chamber of Commerce, said: "Billy was a close friend of mine for many years and was very well respected by everyone who knew him.
"He was a really nice guy who was always very helpful. Nothing was ever too much bother for him and, even though he was always busy, he took the time to do a lot of charity work."
Friends are invited to the funeral service at Glasgow Crematorium, Maryhill, tomorrow (Thursday) at 2.30pm.
