Uniform kindness from Bishopbriggs mum

A KIND-HEARTED mum is helping to collect school uniforms for under-privileged children in three schools in the north of Glasgow.

In conjunction with St Dominic's Church in Bishopbriggs, mum Rosie McDowall is gathering various items of second-hand clothing which will then be given to St Teresa's Franciscan Convent in Possilpark for distribution to needy kids.

Rosie said: "Due to financial difficulties, some of these children have to share uniforms and

won't go to school if it's not 'their turn'.

"We're collecting school skirts, trousers, jumpers, blouses, shirts, socks and also jackets and shoes in good condition."

The collection's been so popular in the past that some mums and dads have even contributed brand-new uniforms.

Rosie said: "Sometimes we're busy thinking about people in all different parts of the world and we forget those near us in Glasgow.

"If anybody wishes to donate uniforms or clothes, please call me on 0141 586 1077."

Sister Loyola, of St Teresa's Franciscan Convent, said: "Rarely have I known someone who gives so much and asks for nothing in return.

"Rosaleen and St Dominic's have been so very good to us with their giving, it's greatly appreciated."

Pictured with Rosie (centre) and some of the uniforms already collected are, from top left, Bishopbriggs kids Agata Nowecka (8), Lucy Harrison (13), Maura-Rose McDowall (5), Piotr Nowecki (16), and Shannon McDowall (12).
