A leisure centre is facing a hefty repair bill after vandals smashed windows and air conditioning units over the festive season.
Kirkintilloch Leisure Centre was damaged by the out of control thugs - with the damage estimated to run into the hundreds of pounds.
The window was broken on Friday, December 20.
The matter has now been reported to police who are currently investigating.
Mark Grant, general manager of East Dunbartonshire Leisure Cultural Trust, said: “It is disappointing to confirm that a large window at Kirkintilloch Leisure Centre’s cafe area was damaged over the festive period.
“Damage was also recently caused to air conditioning units at the leisure centre.
“This kind of vandalism is particularly saddening as it comes amidst excellent work to engage local members of the community in making use of all the first-class facilities at the centre.
“We have worked hard to forge a positive partnership with young people in the area, with the Kirkintilloch Leisure Centre 629 Club being very popular.
“That initiative - run in association with the Council’s Community Learning and Development staff, and the Community Safety Partnership - has seen on average 150 young people attend on a Saturday night to enjoy free access throughout the centre.
“We would appeal to members of the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police.”
If you have any information about the people responsible for the leisure centre damage call Kirkintilloch police on 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
