Walk a way to get out and about in East Dunbartonshire!
WALKERS are getting ready to put their best foot forward for the East Dunbartonshire Walking Festival later this month.
The festival promises something for everyone and will feature a variety of jaunts – from challenging walks in the Campsie Fells and Kilpatrick Hills to gentle meanders in and around Milngavie and the Kelvin Valley.
This year's festival includes walks titled Doughnut to Duncolm, Across the Muirs, Fin Glen to Earl's Seat and Dumgoyne, and peat cutting to ship building.
A spokesperson for the countryside rangers service said: "The festival will offer a variety of walks whether people want a strenuous climb or a scenic wander.
"It will let people see more of their area. Sometimes people living in the area don't know half of what is on their doorstep. East Dunbartonshire has got a wealth of tracks people don't know about and this will give them a chance to explore them."
Tickets for the weekend festival, which takes place on Saturday, September 11, and Sunday, September 12, cost 5 and can be purchased in advance from the rangers at Mugdock Country Park. Booking is essential.
The start points for Saturday's walks is Mugdock Country Park visitors centre and on Sunday it is the Healthy Habits shop in Kirkintilloch.
