Walker injured after being assaulted on Kirkintilloch canal footpath
POLICE are hunting two muggers who attacked a woman as she walked along a canal path.
The pair struck at around 11am on Wednesday, February 20, at the Forth and Clyde Canal path near Waverley Park, Kirkintilloch.
They struck up a conversation with the lone woman, before pushing her over, stealing a number of items and fleeing in the direction of Waverley Park.
The victim suffered a slight injury to her leg during the assault.
The first suspect is described as being around 5ft8in tall, of a slim build, wearing a dark navy coloured hooded top, blue jeans and black trainers.
The second man was around 5ft8in-5ft9in tall, of a slim build, wearing a dark coloured hooded top, dark denims and white trainers.
DC Steven Gault, of Kirkintilloch CID has appealed for anyone who may have seen the males loitering on the Canal Path, or who has any information which could assist the police, to contact Kirkintilloch CID on 0141 532 4400 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where anonymity is guaranteed.
