Water works under way yet again

TEMPORARY traffic lights have been installed for a second time in Kirkintilloch town centre as work continues to fix a water main burst.

Scottish Water was in Townhead two weeks ago, but water has continued to flow down the street, leading to complaints from residents.

A Scottish Water spokesperson said: “There was an unforseen problem in us getting the main shut but we have been able to do that now and will be working on the repair today.

“The two-way traffic lights will remain in place until the reinstatement work is complete. We expect that reinstatement work to be completed tomorrow. We apologise for any inconmvenience to road users.”
