Workshops to look at housing shortage in East Dunbartonshire

The lack of homes in East Dunbartonshire will be the focus of a series of workshops.

According to the Glasgow and Clyde Valley Strategic Development Plan and East Dunbartonshire Local Housing Strategy the district has a ‘significant shortfall’ in affordable and private housing.

The workshops, organised by East Dunbartonshire Council, will look at the need for quality affordable housing and discuss potential sites for development.

They follow on from a consultation carried out late last year.

Councillor Alan Moir, convener of the council’s development and infrastructure committee, said: “During the consultation a number of sites for housing were suggested by various participants in order to contribute to meeting the requirement for housing within the area.

“We now must assess the suitability of the sites suggested.”

The workshops take place on August 13 in Milngavie Town Hall from 6-9pm; August 14 in the Memorial Hall, Bishopbriggs, from 6-9pm, and August 29 in Campsie Memorial Hall, Lennoxtown, from 6-9pm. There will be a light buffet meal available from 6pm, with the workshops starting at 6.30pm.

People wishing to attend are asked to confirm which session they want to go to, no later than August 8. To book, call 0141 578 8600 or email: development.plan@eastdunbarton.gov.uk.
