Your home is your castle ... quite literally in Lennoxtown
Lennox Castle
A FORMER hospital could soon be home to 76 new houses.
Health chiefs have been given the green light by planners to develop land at the former Lennox Castle Hospital site, in Lennoxtown.
The application was made by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, with developers Mactaggart and Mickel lined up to complete the project’s first phase.
There was only one objection to the plans, claiming that the development would cause flooding, make an already overloaded sewerage system worse, and disturb bats and nesting owls.
But council officers assured councillors that a positive flood risk assessment had been carried out and that Scottish Water claimed there was ‘adequate capacity’ for the houses.
Meanwhile, under the planning conditions developers will need to carry out ecological surveys, mitigating the impact on any wildlife found, and avoid cutting down trees during the bird nesting season.

Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 01:39 AMI still hope that Lennox Castle itself will be renovated and made into condominiums. If it happens we will buy one for our Kincaid family to use since John Kincaid built the castle after marrying Miss Lennox and adding Lennox to his name in order to get title to the property. We might be interested in one of the new homes also. Has there been any news on the renovation of Lennox Castle? Thanks, Don Kincaid, Arizona, USA
