A basketball club is to benefit from Lottery funding designed to bolster Scottish sports in advance of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games – now less than a year away.

The Big Lottery Fund Communities programme has awarded £1,975 to the Chryston Cougars Basketball Club.

The money will be used to purchase equipment and strips to encourage more people to join the club, as well as entering a senior men’s team into the Strathclyde League Basketball Association.
