Lottery windfalls for schools and charities in East Dunbartonshire

Organisations across East Dunbartonshire are celebrating this week after receiving Lottery windfalls.

Auchinairn Primary School have been awarded £6,220 from the Awards For All programme to deliver a series of after school clubs aimed at children and adults with dyslexia, dyscalculia and dyspraxia.

Meanwhile Kirkintilloch High School and Turnbull High School have been given £5,154 and £3,661 respectively to purchase equipment for their Duke of Edinburgh Award schemes. Kirkintilloch High School will also run a dance course involving film-making and photography.

Kirkintilloch-based charity Ceartas, who support people with dementia and acquired brain injuries, will also benefit from a £10,000 grant.

The money will be used to carry out a feasibility study into expanding the organisation’s popular advocacy cafes - held regularly at Kirkintilloch Baptist Church.

Finally, East Dunbartonshire Council’s Children’s Residential Services have been handed a total of £4,850 for a new drama project.
