Plans to install new equipment and upgrade a playpark have been given a massive cash boost.

Adamslie Playpark Committee has been awarded £9,985 from the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All scheme.

The group is spearheading plans to upgrade the playpark in Adamslie Drive, Kirkintilloch.

They want to buy new play equipment, put down safety mats and benches.

The cost of the project is estimated to be around £50,000. The playpark committee hopes to secure more cash from the Waste Recycling Environmental group (WREN).

Mum Fiona McDonald, chairperson of the playpark committee, said: “We are over the moon with the funding.

“We now hope to secure money from WREN to take the project forward.”

The group has been working on the plans for the past two years. It’s hoped the playpark could be upgraded by around March next year.
