THE man accused of assaulting a former leader of East Dunbartonshire Council shortly before he died appeared in court last week.
Darren Murphy (25) is alleged to have punched John Morrison on the head in the early hours of the morning on Saturday, December 22.
The alleged assault took place in Glasgow’s Dunlop Street. Mr Morrison was found collapsed in nearby Argyle Street shortly afterwards.
It was reported that a post-mortem examination proved inconclusive and the exact cause of death has still to be established.
