Man arrested after New Year’s Eve murder in Glasgow

DETECTIVES investigating a murder on Hogmanay have arrested a 22-year-old man.

Ryan Sherry (21), of Hawthorn Street in Springburn, was attacked in Petershill Road, near Springburn Fire Station, last Monday, December 31, at around 10.30pm.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and Mr Sherry was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary, however, he sadly died from his injuries.

Officers have been carrying out door-to-door inquiries in the area and gathering CCTV images.

Police revealed today (Tuesday) that a 22 year-old man has been arrested and is presently detained in police custody in relation to the death.

A full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
