MOTORISTS and bystanders watched in horror as a 25-year-old man was hit by a car on Auchinairn Road, in Bishopbriggs, as he ran from a gang of men.

After being struck by the car, the man landed on the rear windscreen of another vehicle.

He was then beaten up by the gang as he lay injured on the tarmac.

The alarm was raised and an ambulance arrived and took the man to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Inspector Brian Dodd, of Springburn community policing team, said the suspects are all aged between 40 and 50-years-of-age. He also confirmed that the 25-year-old man suffered head injuries in the assault, but has now been released from hospital.

It is unknown whether the head injuries were mostly sustained from the assault or from being hit by the vehicles.

The attack happened at 4.30pm on Friday, August 26. Police are appealing for witnesses.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Constable Laura Moffat at Baird Street CID on 0141 532 4100.

Police have recently launched a campaign to tackle gang fighting in the Auchinairn Road area, which marks the border between East Dunbartonshire and North Glasgow.
