FED-up motorists face further disruption after it was announced a road closure has been extended for a further six weeks.

Calfmuir Road, in Kirkintilloch, was closed off on May 1 to allow developers to build a new roundabout near the Woodilee Village development.

The road was due to reopen on August 26, but East Dunbartonshire Council say that, due to the unusually wet conditions, the progress has been slower than hoped and the road will now open on Monday, October 1.

David Devine, the council’s head of roads, said: “Unfortunately the road will remain closed for an additional six weeks.

“The Woodilee house building developer is doing everything in their power to ensure delays are minimised.”
