Two much-needed new council house developments are on track to deliver a total of 26 new affordable properties by next year.
East Dunbartonshire Council representatives toured the sites in Bishopbriggs and Kirkintilloch earlier this month to see how the houses are taking shape - with contractors having recently erected the first of the roof frames.
Twelve new properties, consisting of one and two bedroom houses and flats, are being built at Fern Avenue in Bishopbriggs.
Meanwhile a further 14 homes, made up of one, two and three bedroom houses and flats are being developed at the Lammermoor Road site in Kirkintilloch.
They are being constructed by developer Cruden Buildings and Renewals Ltd, with the homes being developed with support from Scottish Government funding and on schedule to be completed in early 2014.
Council depute leader Ashay Ghai, who is convener of the council’s housing and community services committee, said: “It is encouraging to see the progress of these new homes in Bishopbriggs and Kirkintilloch and I am delighted that these houses will be welcoming their first tenants early next year.
“The development of these properties is another step forward for the council in addressing the housing needs of people living within our communities and the future projects planned will see even more affordable housing being built in East Dunbartonshire.”
