A MP has backed a scheme which aims to generate more donations for charity shops.

The Choose Charity Shops campaign is being supported by East Dunbartonshire MP Jo Swinson as well as several charities including Cancer Research UK, British Red Cross, Barnardo’s, Oxfam and the British Heart Foundation.

MP Jo visited the Cancer Research UK shop in Kirkintilloch recently to launch the campaign.

She said: “Donating to charity shops is a good excuse to do a little spring cleaning and make sure your clothes don’t end up in landfill while supporting the important work of valuable local and national charities.

“You can boost the value of your donated clothes even further by filling out a simple Gift Aid form.”
