The caring daughter of a man who died of cancer has helped raise more than £2,000 by completing a fundraising challenge in his memory.

Dawn McEwen and Michelle Knox took on the challenge of cycling 56 miles round Arran, followed by a 874m trek to the summit of Goat Fell.

Dawn’s dad Jim McEwen sadly died of cancer in March 2010, aged 62. Jim, from Kirkintilloch, was well known in the area and was a ward manager at Woodilee Hospital and a member of St Mary’s Parish Church.

The money raised by Dawn (39) and Michelle (38), who both work with Renfrewhire Council, has gone to St Vincent’s Hospice in Howwood, Johnstone.

Dawn, from Auchinloch, said: “Dad loved to do anything to help other people, that’s why I wanted to do something in memory of him. It’s something he would have been proud of.
