Two Lennoxtown mums have been on the ball to raise almost £2,000 for their sons’ football club.
Sharon McIntyre and Adelia McEwan were stunned at the response from the local community to their first fundraising event in aid of Campsie FC 2001 under 14’s team.
The two mums held a social evening recently at Hayston Golf Club in Kirkintilloch - and raised £1,700.
Sharon said: “It was a huge success. More than 120 people attended, local band Retro gave their time free and we were stunned by the donations from local companies to the raffle.
“We both have boys in the team and took over the main role of fundraisers earlier this year.
“We have now managed to kit out the team and coaches and also treated the boys to a fun day out at Auchengillan Outdoor Centre.”
Now Lennoxtown firm Cafe Barga has agreed to sponsor the team.
Sharon said: “Adelia and I really appreciate the support of the cafe, which has only been opened in the village for just over a year.”
