Murder hunt after body found in North Glasgow

POLICE are going door-to-door in a bid to catch a killer after a 48-year-old man was discovered dead in his North Glasgow home at the weekend.

Ernest Hamilton’s body was found by a member of his family at the property in Shapinsay Street, Milton, on Saturday morning.

Police are now appealing for information in a bid to hunt down the killer/s. He was last seen at 11pm on Friday, March 16.

Detective Chief Inspector Kenny Dewar, who is leading the investigation, said: “My detectives are carrying out door-to-door inquiries and a detailed forensic examination is taking place in order to gather information which will help us to identify the person responsible for the murder of Ernest Hamilton.

“From our inquiries so far we know that Ernest was last seen on Friday night at around 11pm.

“I would like to appeal to anyone who may have seen him after 11pm until he was discovered in his house by a family member at 10am on Saturday to come forward.

“I would further appeal to anyone who may have heard a disturbance inside 12 Shapinsay Street to contact the incident room at Maryhill Police Office on 0141 532 3821.

“Also if you saw anyone hanging around Shapinsay Street on Friday night or the early hours of Saturday morning, or saw or heard anything out of the ordinary, get in touch.

“The public can also contact Crimestoppers with information on 0800 555 111 if they wish to remain anonymous.”
