IT’S home sweet home for the the first tenants of a rejuvenated Kirkintilloch community.

Hillhead Housing Association was delighted to hand over the keys to new homes in Ivanhoe Drive and Border Way to three lucky families.

They are part of an 87-unit development with all the homes being built for rent.

A total of 71 will be owned and managed by the association, while 16 are being built as part of a development partnership with East Dunbartonshire Council – to be handed over soon.

The £7.9million housing development is being part-funded by the Scottish Government, council and the Royal Bank of Scotland.

The development, which will complete the area’s regeneration, is a major achievement for the association and replaces 150 damp and poorly-designed old flats.

The remaining homes are expected to be handed over to the association by April 2013.
