New primary school design launched

A design has been created giving an insight into how new schools will look in East Dunbartonshire.

The primary school design, which is based on the needs of Curriculum for Excellence, will act as a reference design for new-build primary schools across Scotland.

It will be used to build the new Lairdsland Primary School which is set to open in October 2014.

The design (pictured above) was developed in consultation with the staff and pupils to produce a result that provides a “stimulating learning environment”.

Council leader Rhondda Geekie said: “These images present a school which is fit for learning in the 21century.

“We are consulting on building more new primary schools based on this design in East Dunbartonshire. Any new school would be developed in close consultation with pupils, teachers and parents to ensure that the building meets the specific needs of that area.”

A virtual tour of the new primary school design is available on the homepage of the council’s website (www.eastdunbarton.gov.uk).
