New signs mark Fairtrade status for Lenzie

Lenzie has officially been named a Fairtrade town - the first area in East Dunbartonshire.

Signs have been erected in the area to recognise the status, which was awarded earlier this year thanks to a campaign by Lenzie Fair Trade Group.

They worked with local businesses, schools, churches and community organisations to promote Fairtrade.

Council leader Rhondda Geekie said: “These signs are just the latest in a list of achievements for Lenzie Fair Trade Group.

“The signs let everyone visiting the town know that it supports Fairtrade and will help increase business.

“The council remains committed to the fair trade agenda and this achievement by the Lenzie Fair Trade Group is

another step forward for East Dunbartonshire.”
