THE alleged hoarding of thousands of letters and parcels bound for homes in East Dunbartonshire is still being looked at by law chiefs.
A Royal Mail employee was allegedly found with a pile of mail during a police raid on his Kirkintilloch home in September last year.
The Herald was inundated with calls from residents who had lost items, including birthday presents and cards.
A Royal Mail spokeswoman said: “The case is with the procurator fiscal and we have not received any further information.
“It is a criminal offence to tamper with or delay the delivery of mail and anyone caught doing so will face serious disciplinary measures.”
The spokeswoman continued: “Royal Mail will always prosecute the tiny minority of people who abuse their position of trust.”
