Nominations loom for business awards

Local busineses will have a chance to shine at the East Dunbartonshire Business Awards 2015.

The inaugural event in 2014 proved a great success – rewarding shining stars of innovation and enterprise in local towns and villages.

It has been confirmed that the awards will return in 2015, with further opportunities to showcase the good work taking place in businesses, boardrooms, shopfloors, and outlets across East Dunbartonshire.

Nominatons will open in March and a panel of judges from the council, partners and business will again help to choose the finalists, who will be invited to a special awards dinner on Friday, May 29, at The Eagle Lodge in Bishopbriggs.

A total of 34 companies were nominated for last year’s awards, with over 130 guests attending the final at The Eagle Lodge to celebrate the winners and contenders in each of the 10 categories.

As well as the awards, the final will again include a charity fundraiser in aid of a number of local organisations. The 2014 event raised more than £7,000 for a range of good causes.

Sponsors are being arranged for the 2015 awards, with the Kirkintilloch Herald Series and Milngavie & Bearsden Herald back on board as media sponsors.

Councillor Alan Moir, convener of development and regeneration, said: “The 2014 awards were a sparkling celebration of the many inspirational entrepreneurs and hard-working men and women helping to power East Dunbartonshire’s economy.

‘‘The 2015 East Dunbartonshire Business Awards offer a terrific chance to recognise the achievements of local businesses – who contribute so much to this area.’’
