POLICE are hoping residents can help them snare two bogus callers who tried to con a Bishopbriggs pensioner out of thousands of pounds.
The two fraudsters knocked on the OAP’s door at around 2.45pm on Friday, April 1.
Police say they tried to get the Balmuildy Road householder to agree to a large amount of spurious building works - asking for cash up-front.
The worried pensioner activated a panic alarm and the pair fled before the police arrived, but one of the men managed to gain access to the house and stole £100 in cash before making his getaway.
The first man was described as being white with a Glasgow accent, aged 45-55, between 5ft6ins-5ft8ins tall, with fair hair and wearing a light jacket.
The second was white with a Glasgow accent, aged 26-30, between 5ft6ins-5ft8ins tall and was wearing dark clothing.
Anybody with any information should contact Bishopbriggs police office on 0141 207 5878 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
