Peace conference

A PEACE conference held by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Lenzie Academy has been hailed a great success.

Over 150 people attended the special event earlier this month with guest speakers including Ian Mills, District Governor of the Rotary Club, Father Gus Hurley and Imam Rashid, Imam of the London Mosque, all addressing the conference.

The event, which started with an update on relief work being carried out by the Humanity First charity for the victims of the flood in Pakistan, received a special message from Alex Salmond. Good wishes and messages of support were also sent by Ann McKechin MP and Gregg McClymont MP. The event was attended by Inspector Brian McInulty from Strathclyde Police, Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant Mushtaq Ahmad of Hamilton, councillor Gillian Renwick and East Dunbartonshire Provost Eric Gotts.
