A HOLIDAY became a nightmare for a Lennoxtown pensioner when he was airlifted to hospital from a North Sea ferry after he suffered a suspected heart attack.

Jim Findlay and his wife Alice were on a cruise with family members to celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary when the ordeal unfolded.

As the ship crossed the North Sea on the homeward journey Jim (74) suffered pains in his chest.

An emergency medical team was flown in to exam him on board the ship and before long he was on his way by helicopter to a hospital in the Belgian town of Bruges, where he received an angiogram.

Jim, pictured here with wife Alice, told the Herald: “They probably saved my life.”
