Police appeal after new mum vanishes

Police are appealing for help to trace a vulnerable woman who has gone missing.

Balquees Khalaf (38) who recently gave birth, was last seen at her home in Royston Road, Springburn around 9pm on Monday, December 15.

Police said the missing woman is originally from Iraq and only recently arrived in this country with her husband.

She is described as around 6ft tall and of heavy build.

When last seen she was wearing a headscarf (which may be light-coloured), a purple top with flower print and light coloured trousers.

Inspector Kenny Darroch of Baird Street Police Office said: “We are very concerned at the sudden disappearance of Balquees, particularly as she has only recently come to Scotland with her husband and speaks only limited English.

“She is not known to have any other family in the country apart from her husband.

“Balquees had also recently given birth.

“As time passes we are becoming very anxious to trace her safe and well. I would ask anyone with information to contact police immediately on 101.”
