A BULL which escaped from a farm in Moodiesburn had to be shot dead by a police marksman.

The animal fled from a field in Avenuehead Road last Tuesday at around 10.50am and was seen near the A80.

The farmer, vet and police spent two hours trying to return the bull to the farm.

But Superintendent Brian Connel said: “Given the size of the animal, its aggressive state and its proximity to areas frequented by the public, the only safe course of action was to unfortunately put the animal down using a police marksman.”
