An elderly woman who died after she was struck by a taxi has been named as Josephine Camley.

The 82-year-old was hit by the white Skoda Octavia as she walked across Springburn Road at Fountainwell Road, Springburn, around 7.30pm on Wednesday.

She was taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary suffering from multiple serious injuries.

The pensioner, from Balgraybank Street in Springburn, died on Thursday morning.

Police said a report would be sent to the procurator fiscal.

Sergeant Stuart Bell is appealing for witnesses.

He said: “Where the crash occurred is an extremely busy road being one of the main routes into the north of the city.

“I would appeal to any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police to contact officers at the Greater Glasgow Road Policing Department via 101.”
